“Dhanuka, a student of Rabindra Bharati University paints with tremendous abandon . Her small drawings and her large painting communicated a strange personal world amalgamating images that at times were incomprehensible but compelling and at times derived from folk, primitive and tantric art .Her paintings gave the impressionof highly disturbed imagination which she conveyed without inhibitions ..Yet what made these paintings hold the eye was the highly dramatic use of colours and the juxtaposition of real and meaning filled nonsensical images such as one finds in the literature of whimsy. The small drawings in pastel were intriguing ,much of art today is excessively cultivated. Dhanuka gave the impression from the heart that’s why it was a pleasure seeing her exhibition.”

“Madhu Dhanuka’s acrylic painting portrays Indian culture and society.A visual treat ,Dhanuka,s works capture the positive and the negative aspects of the eastern school of thoughts.”

“It takes guts to use so many primordial primaries and she gets away with it because of the spontaneity of the application of her colours .She paints with passion and this is evident in the way she uses colours .”couple” is a painrting that reminds one of the art of Rabnidranath Tagore .Now this statement needs qualification .Artists do not copy. Ther are connected at a point of psychological depth that is difficult to define.Mdhu Dhanuka is making no attempt to imitate the great Tagore ,neither is she inspired by him, she just belongs to the category of psychological painters who are able to express fears and inhibitions, premonitions and pain through their art.Artists like Madhu Dhanuka are valuable because they enable us to glimpse at states of mind that most artists are unable to comprehend and communicate Exploring the inner realms of the mind.” -The Times of India –Kishore Chatterjee.
